It should come as no surprise, but we’re all about girl power over here at Hair.com. Which means we think striving to become “one of the boys” is just a little overrated. However, that doesn’t mean we aren’t often inspired by the seriously stylish men in our lives.

Although menswear for women has taken over the fashion industry in the last few years, it’s not just mens’ clothes we’re loving. For years, women have been slaying haircuts and styles that were typically thought to have been reserved for men. The quiff hairstyle is the latest male-inspired haircut we’re obsessing over. Once you get a look at these ladies, you will be too.

Classic Quiff

While a quiff is often thought of as a haircut and style for men, you don’t have to make any changes to this classic ‘do to absolutely slay it. Your stylist will leave your hair long on the top and taper the sides and back for a close crop at the nape of your neck.

Long Quiff

If you love the look of a quiff but want to keep some length to play around with, consider a long quiff. Your stylist will still taper the sides and back of your hair like a classic quiff, but will keep the hair on top of your head as long as your heart desires.

If you’re looking for a glamorous way to style your long quiff for your next big event, consider curling your locks. Start at the back of your head, working with 2-inch sections of clean, dry hair. Spray each one with a heat protectant before wrapping it around a 1-inch curling wand. Hold each section of hair to the wand until it’s just heated through (approximately 30-60 seconds depending on the thickness of your hair). Once you’ve curled your entire head, run your fingers through your hair to loosen the curls and set your look with a medium hold hair spray.

S-Curl Quiff

Adding a delicate S-curl to your quiff is the perfect way to add a feminine touch to an often masculine style. For this look, you’ll need to keep the hair on the sides of your head long enough to style. To begin, apply a liberal amount of medium hold gel to the sides of your head. Comb the gel through your hair until it is evenly distributed and your strands are saturated.

Then, using your comb and a little help from your fingers, create a S-shaped wave. Continue to the next section, creating another S-shaped wave until you’ve completed the entire side. Repeat the process on the opposite side. Once the gel in your hair is completely dried, your look is complete.

Faux Quiff

If you love the look of a quiff but aren’t ready to cut off your precious locks, a faux quiff is perfect for you. To create this look, first section off the hair at the top of your head. Next, you’ll need to cornrow the remaining hair to give the appearance of tapered sides and a close crop at the base of your neck.

Begin the braid on the right side of your head and braid it all the way around your head, creating a U-shape. Then, style the hair on the top of your head into a sweeping pompadour. Finally, tuck the end of your braid into the pompadour and secure with a bobby pin.

Curly Quiff

Big, long curly hair has been all of the rage lately, but curly ladies shouldn’t shy away from this cut. The best thing about a curly quiff is that the tapered sides and back allow the curls on the top of your head to take center stage.
